How to Contribute

Please send writing in Word format and images in jpeg to pipapers@gc.cuny.edu.

Deadlines: There is no deadline for submission. Work is reviewed and, if accepted, posted throughout the academic year. Work received in the summer is usually posted in the following year's issue.

Ideally, your paper will relate to one of the 10 areas of concentration in the MALS program: American Studies; Approaches to Modernity; Bioethics, Science and Society; Biography, Autobiography and Memoir; Film Studies; International Studies; Landmarks of Western Thought; Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies; Urban Education; and Women’s Studies.

The writing should be intelligent, lively, original, previously unpublished and not so academic that it excludes non-specialist readers. We generally follow the format in the MLA Handbook. If you have citations, make them end notes, not footnotes. A formal paper should include a list of Works Cited, not a complete bibliography. We prefer papers of 3000–4000 words, double spaced.

We also publish notes of 1200–2000 words.

If timely, we accept reviews of books, gallery and museum exhibitions, plays and films.

Send all digitized photos, drawings, paintings, videos and film clips, or a link to your web site, for our art editor to evaluate.
